Meet the Pettit Family. I know Sarah from our years in college. Since graduation I have been able to see her darling family grow. And most recently I have loved watching their journey through adoption. Thank you social media. One of the things I find most profound about their journey is the expanding of their hearts in the process.
"My husband Ryan and I have 3 biological children and are currently in the process of adding two boys from Uganda to our family. We always wanted to adopt but when we had our 3 in 2 1/2 years, that was put on hold. When our youngest turned 3, we decided to start the process. It has been a journey. The law changed right when we were getting matched with a little boy. We felt this was God's confirmation to carry on despite the new law. Plus his name was Sam which means "for this child I have prayed" so God really wanted us to know this was him! On our first trip to meet him there was a tiny baby at the orphanage... he was 4 months old but probably only weighed 7 lbs... I was in love. We jumped through some hoops and added Phin to our adoption. The law states we had to make 4 trips while "fostering" for a year. Our year was up in October and no court date. We waited and prayed and our little Phin got sicker. At 14 months old he weighed 12 lbs. with no court date in sight we felt God prompting us to move to Uganda and we've been here since January! We were able to get Phin's health issues somewhat figured out and we went to court in March. The judge approved our adoption but we still have several steps before we can come home. Next up we wait for passports and an adoption order to apply to the embassy. My biggest take away from this whole process of God is faithful. It has looked nothing like we planned but living in Uganda is an experience we will never forget. It's amazing the adventure that awaits when you simply say yes."
What a beautiful example of circle influencers. Ryan, Sarah and their 5 kids are still living in Uganda until their adoption is complete. We have decided to support them in this process. If you would like to learn more about their journey and provide additional support we urge you to check them out here: The Pettit Family
